Mocha Cream Pie

Move over chocolate cream pie!  Coffee's got you lot all jazzed upwardly together with turned you lot into ridiculously delicious Mocha Cream Pie ... alongside a java together with chocolate custard filling, within an Oreo crumb crust, all topped alongside java whipped cream.  It'll brand you boot patently chocolate cream pie to the curb, too.


Perhaps I should convey used decaf to brand this pie.  Allow me to explicate ...

I don't drinkable coffee.  Not a drop.

In fact, I drinkable rattling piddling caffeine at all.  In whatever form.

Not because I don't similar caffeine.  But because caffeine doesn't similar me.  Caffeine affects me a lot.  Like, if I drinkable a Diet Coke or then 10:00 inwards the morning, I'll convey a difficult fourth dimension falling asleep at 10:00 that night!  For real.  And I am bouncing off the walls.  My married adult man tin post away say inwards an instant if I've been drinking anything alongside caffeine ... fifty-fifty if it's hours later.  Oh, delight say me I'm non the entirely 1 who can't conduct maintain my caffeine!

Mocha Cream Pie

Ingredients
Crust:
  • 2 c. finely crushed Oreos
  • 1/2 c. butter, melted
Mocha Filling:
  • 2/3 c. granulated sugar
  • 1/4 c. cornstarch
  • 2 T. instant java crystals
  • 2 c. half-and-half
  • 4 egg yolks
  • 2 oz. semi-sweet chocolate squares, chopped
  • 2 T. butter
Coffee Whipped Cream:
  • 2 c. whipping cream
  • 1 T. coffee liqueur (I purpose Kahlua)
  • 1/4 c. granulated sugar
Directions
  1. FOR THE CRUST: Stir together crushed Oreos together with melted butter until good combined. Press into the bottom together with upwardly the sides of a 9-inch pie plate coated alongside non-stick cooking spray. Bake at 350 degrees for 10 minutes. Cool completely.
  2. FOR THE MOCHA FILLING: In a saucepan, whisk together granulated sugar, java crystals, together with cornstarch. In a bowl, whisk together half-and-half together with egg yolks. Whisk egg mixture into carbohydrate mixture a piddling at a time.
  3. Bring carbohydrate together with egg mixture to a boil over medium heat, whisking constantly. Once mixture begins to boil, boil for 1 minute, whisking constantly. Remove from heat.
  4. Melt semi-sweet chocolate squares (over depression estrus inwards a small-scale saucepan or inwards the microwave on high for close 1 minute). Add melted chocolate together with the 2 tablespoons butter to the carbohydrate mixture inwards the saucepan together with whisk in. Spoon into prepared cooled crust.
